AHCA/NCAL Media Guidelines

The American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL) welcomes members of the press to our annual convention, Delivering Solutions. We are pleased to offer two complimentary press passes per media outlet. These press passes can be arranged by emailing AHCAPressOffice@ahca.org. All registered media are expected to follow our official Media Guidelines when attending AHCA/NCAL events as a working member of the press.

Members of the media must identify their affiliations.

Any media representatives must register their affiliation with their print, broadcast, or online media platform. Freelance writers must register as members of the press and, when possible, the outlet they will represent during the event. Press passes may be granted to two individuals from each publication that covers long term and/or post-acute care, and media representatives who can show evidence that their attendance is expected to result in coverage of the meeting or event in print, broadcast, or Internet media.

AHCA/NCAL will not issue press passes to a publisher’s or publication’s advertising, marketing, public relations, or sales representatives; publishers, editors, or reporters from manufacturers’ house or promotional publications; public relations staff of exhibitors; writers creating analyses or reports sold as a commodity; or other individuals or their representatives who are not actually reporting on the meeting or event.
Any press pass holder who sells, markets, or represents a company or organization for the purpose of obtaining advertising, sales, or subscriptions from any meeting registrant or exhibitor will be asked to immediately forfeit press credentials.

Photography and filming of attendees must be communicated in advance.

If you plan to capture images or video, including interviews, presentations, social gatherings, etc., for press purposes, please contact AHCAPressOffice@ahca.org to communicate your plans. AHCA/NCAL has full media rights to all events and reserves the right to stop any photography or filming that was not pre-approved.

Media may attend only general sessions and designated education sessions.

AHCA/NCAL reserves the right to limit media access to specifically designated sessions and events.  These sessions will be communicated to all registered press in advance of the conference. If a member of the media attends and/or reports on a session or event that is closed to the press, AHCA/NCAL reserves the right to revoke their press pass and immediately remove them from the event. All general sessions are open to registered attendees and press.

Exhibitors who are also media must coordinate media activities with AHCA/NCAL.

Any media activities in the Expo Hall must be approved by the AHCA/NCAL Public Affairs team. If a vendor, business member, or exhibitor would like to interview AHCA/NCAL staff, leadership, or Board Members, please submit a request to AHCAPressOffice@ahca.org. All camera crew, videographers, etc. must be registered as part of the exhibitor booth for admittance to the Expo Hall.

Registered press will receive advance communications to enhance their experience at AHCA/NCAL events.

We want members of the media to have the best experience possible at our event. We will communicate important information, including press opportunities and resources, in advance of the event. For this reason, we encourage all members of the press to register early and clearly communicate your role.
